You have booked your session. The date is in the calendar. Now comes the one question that always follows, what do I actually need to bring? This is our complete, honest checklist, eight essentials that make the difference between a smooth, calm session and a stressful one.
Quick Answer — The Complete Checklist
For a baby or newborn photoshoot at Studio79 Virar, bring: feeding bottle, pacifier or nipple, baby formula or expressed milk, extra diapers (at least 4–6), wet wipes and tissues, a soft towel or napkin, extra baby clothes, and a baby blanket or swaddle. Studio79 provides all props, wraps, and setups, you only need to bring feeding essentials and baby comfort items.
In 36+ years of photographing babies in Virar, we have seen every version of session-day preparation, parents who arrived with everything neatly packed and parents who arrived without a single spare nappy. The difference it makes to the session is real.
The good news: the list is short. Studio79 provides everything for the shoot itself, props, organic wraps, swaddles, baskets, bowls, backdrops, and themed setups are all included at no extra charge. What you need to bring is entirely for your baby's comfort and care during the session, not for the photographs themselves.
The 8 Essentials; and Why Each One Matters
01
Feeding Bottle
This is the single most important item on the list. A full, satisfied baby is a calm baby — and a calm baby gives you the photographs you came for. Bring at least two feeds worth of milk or formula in a bottle, even if you are breastfeeding. Sessions can run longer than planned and having a bottle ready means we never have to pause the shoot for an avoidable reason.
02
Pacifier or Nipple
For newborns especially, a pacifier is one of the most useful settling tools in a photoshoot. When a baby is between sleepy poses — being moved from one setup to the next — a pacifier can bridge the transition without fully waking them. Bring the one your baby already uses, not a new one. Familiar is everything during a session in an unfamiliar environment.
03
Baby Formula or Expressed Milk
Pack more than you think you will need. Newborn sessions at Studio79 Virar run 2 to 4 hours and include as many feeding pauses as your baby needs. For older baby milestone sessions of 60 to 90 minutes, bring at least one full feed. If you are breastfeeding, you are welcome to feed anywhere in our studio — we have a private nursing area for your comfort.
04
Diapers — Extra Ones
Bring at least 4 to 6 nappies. More if your baby is a newborn. Nappy changes are built into every session at Studio79 — they are not interruptions, they are part of how we work. A clean, comfortable baby settles back into poses much faster than an uncomfortable one. We have a dedicated nappy changing space within the studio so you are never scrambling on the floor.
05
Wet Wipes and Tissues
Bring a generous supply of both. Wet wipes for nappy changes and quick clean-ups during the session. Tissues for spill moments, milk dribbles, and anything unexpected. If your baby has sensitive skin, bring the brand you already use — unfamiliar wipes can cause irritation during a long session.
06
Soft Towel or Napkin
A soft muslin cloth or small towel has multiple uses during a photoshoot. Burping after feeds, wiping up spit-up, covering your shoulder during a feeding hold, and providing a familiar surface texture for a baby who needs grounding. Bring one that smells of home — the familiar scent is genuinely calming for very young babies.
07
Extra Baby Clothes
Bring at least two complete changes of clothing for your baby. The outfit your baby arrives in for the studio session, and a clean spare in case of a feed spill or nappy leak before the session ends. For
cake smash sessions, bring three outfits — the birthday outfit, the smash outfit, and a clean spare for after. Studio79 provides all session gowns, wraps, and accessories.
08
Baby Blanket or Swaddle
A familiar blanket or swaddle from home is one of the most underestimated settling tools for a photoshoot. The texture, warmth, and — most importantly — the familiar smell of something from home gives a baby in an unfamiliar environment something to anchor to. Bring the one your baby already sleeps with. Studio79 provides session wraps and organic swaddles, but your baby's own blanket is a comfort item, not a prop.
"The shoot was smooth and wasn't a bit tiring for the kids too. They really delivered the vision I had in mind — and better than what I expected."

One Thing That Is Not on the List — but Matters Most
In 36+ years of photographing babies at Studio79 in Virar, there is one consistent observation we have made: the most important thing a parent can bring to a photoshoot is their own calm.
Babies — especially newborns and young infants — are extraordinarily sensitive to the emotional state of their parents. When you arrive tense, anxious, or worried about whether the session will go well, your baby senses that tension and responds to it. When you arrive calm, trusting the process, and ready to follow our lead, your baby has a far better chance of settling quickly and comfortably.
Pack your bag the night before. Confirm your session time. Feed your baby just before you leave home. Then let us handle everything else. We have done this thousands of times.
